The AGM was held today with approximately 50 members attending.
A full report will be published in the February-March issue of Rumbles and Roars which is planned to be available in time for the March Barton meet.
In the meantime, here is a summary of the main outcomes of the meeting:
Committee Election
Shelley Lewis has stepped down as Treasurer and Membership Secretary. On behalf of the club, the committee thanks Shelley for all of her hard work over the years. Shelley will remain a member of the club and will continue to help out in an unofficial capacity.
Heather Sumners has been elected to the committee as Membership Secretary. Many of you will have met Heather at Barton or one of the shows last summer, and we are lucky to have her on board. Welcome Heather!
Hugh Lewis will be taking on the responsibility of Treasure in addition to remaining as Chairman. Whilst ideally we would have another person in the role of Treasurer, the increased automation of the club’s finances means that this is a less demanding role than it once was. The committee would still welcome any volunteers to take on this role in the future.
The remaining committee members remain in their previous positions. I (Danny) have decided to remain as Editor until at least the next AGM following the decision to reduce the frequency of the magazine to alternate months (see below).
Magazine
It was agreed unanimously and with vocal support that the club needed to continue to publish a printed magazine, with the possibility of adding a digital subscription to be explored in the future. Due to the demands of putting together a magazine with original content and the lack of volunteers to take on the Editorship, it was decided that the magazine would henceforth be bi-monthly, that is, it will be published every other month.
A number of members volunteered to make regular contributions to the magazine which will hopefully mean it can be slightly longer than the monthly edition. Once again members are encouraged to submit articles for publication, whether as one-offs or on a regular basis. The only requirement is that the material is original and not copied from other sources, and ideally sent by email to the editor.
Membership Fees
In order to compensate for the reduced magazine frequency and attract additional members, the annual membership fee has been lowered to £20 (or £30 for two adults; juniors remain free of charge). The £4 joining fee has been removed, as the cost of processing a new member is not materially different to a renewal. These changes are effective immediately.
