I have always had an interest in the Mustang since childhood. In 1974 I wrote to Ford UK asking for car literature and amongst the brochures for the Cortina, Consul and Granada was a A4 photograph of the all new 1974 Mustang 2. Some 14 years later I bought my first Mustang, a 1978 Mustang 2 European import from Belgium, which had had its original 302 removed for the more powerful 1971 302. The speedo had optimistically 120MPH on it and it easily went passed that. After 4 years and plenty of mechanical issues I sold it on and rediscovered my love for drag racing, helping a friend build a Lada with an AMC 343CI engine and eventually taking up the sport on my motorbike. I came back to American cars in 2008 when I purchased the car I still own, a 2002 ford Mustang GT premium which I have improved over the years. I started coming to the club meets on the rare occasion but due to other commitments I didn't become a member until 2017 and later joined the committee in 2019.
