'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the land,
Not a creature was stirring, except – a moving van?
Why, there were many trucks rolling, while other folks slept sound –
There were tankers and bull haulers and freight shippers (ground),
There were expedited and loggers and many, many more –
Still on the road truckin’, to fill every need and store.
‘Cause you see, it’s no secret, to us folks who drive the rigs,
Santa can’t be everywhere, nor can he have a sleigh that big
To carry all the toys that good girls and boys get
As well as the cookies Mom made, that they won’t forget.
Or the Christmas dinner when everyone’s in their place,
Taking time to remember their soldier, or an oldster’s missing face.
Yessir, it’s the truckers who keep Christmas coming every year –
And without them, well … there’d be many a tear
From the little girl in Texas who didn’t get her doll
Or the grandma in Oregon whose phone wouldn’t work to get that call.
If there hadn’t been a trucker on the road those cold nights
There wouldn’t be ribbons, and gifts, and twinkling lights.
So thank you, truckers, everywhere and everyone –
You know there’s a squad of angels to watch you on your run,
To get you through safely and homeward once again –
Thank God for truckers – they’re Santa’s best friend.
"If you bought it, a truck brought it."
Merry Christmas & a happy new year!
