I've phoned to check with the organisers of this show to see if it is still on or cancelled due to the weather because, as exed said, it is known to flood here.

Up to now it is still on but he is going to phone me to confirm or cancel tonight.

Please check this forum for an update before setting off.

The organiser has got back to me to say it IS on.
I have just checked the weather for that area on Sunday and it says showery.
Don't know who's going and I don't know if we're going yet but have fun if you do.

I've done "showery" at Leisure Lakes, two years ago.  It doesn't help a show much, because the site is a bit exposed.  However, a good time was still had by all, because the MG club is very much in-their-stride now with this show, and as long as you can get on the field, it's worth braving the elements.

There IS an answer...

Mind you, the grass isn't always as green as you think.  Here in Cyprus, my locally-sourced 1971 Capri cost me a damn sight more than I paid last year for my 1962 Cadillac.  Cars, and many other things, are frighteningly expensive here, which wasn't always the case.  Want to buy a laid-up restoration project?  In UK it's no problem.  Here, the tax rules make it prohibitively expensive, which is why the whole island is littered with old cars in hedgerows.  The housing market has well-overtaken the UK, in the 15 months since we last visited to view houses.  When I had one to sell, UK was in freefall (thanks Gordon) and Cyprus was still climbing.  It's slowed down here, but nothing like the collapse the UK has seen.  And it means I can't afford to buy now, even a buy-to-let apartment.  The job market has also collapsed here now, and of course migrant workers (me) will be the first to go, or not be hired.  Immigration is a strict process with cash fees at every turn, as it should be in UK but isn't.  If I want to take a holiday in the US I have to fly to UK first, which effectively puts a day on each end of the trip, complete with airport hotels, unless I want to take a chance on missing a flight because of a two-hour delay at this end, or sit around an airport for half a day waiting.  Oh yeah, and we've had no car shows for the last 6 weeks because of the weather (it's too hot).

Would I move back?  Take a guess! (He says, gazing idly out of the window across the sunlit valley and wondering whether to take the cover off the swimming pool today...)

MG Club have already put up a few photos on their website, looks like it was a dull day weather-wise.  They've been really cursed in recent years, I think the last time their show was blessed was about 2005!

They had a table full of trophys................but none of them were for the American cars that turned up (another club that seems to favour british cars!)

Ken Tipler ( 1930 Ford Hotrod)  asked the guy on the microphone in the arena if there was a trophy for americans, he said if we have a spare one at the end of the prizegiving

we will see what we can do !         GEE   THANKS  MISTER !!!!!    unhappy

I think they've only once had a class specifically for Americans, and that's when a member had two!  (Me: 1980 Buick and 1990 Chrysler; not to mention later, 1991 Chevy and 1962 Cadillac)  It was won by John Wayne Greatbanks, with the red Cadillac.  They organise the cars by decade, Keith Pugh got his cup for 1960s, which means his 68 Mustang was up against some VERY sparkly MGs (and this IS an MG club, remember).  The problem is, one-make clubs tend to get a little isolated, so unless the members embrace diversity (in 2004 I showed the Buick, Chrysler AND my MG at this event) they tend to lack the appreciation of something as different as our cars.  Compared to an MGB, anything from Detroit is pure sci-fi!
